Intaglio Fine Art Etchings | Chine Colle

Intaglio is an ancient Italian etching technique. This technique enables the artist to etch deeper into the etching plate so that the image becomes embossed into the paper allowing a three dimensional effect. Intaglio enables the artist to use a variety of colors as opposed to one color or hue.

Chine Colle is a traditional French technique that binds paper to paper enabling the paper fibers to meld together forming a complete bond so that the papers become one.

Combining Intaglio with Chine Colle is an innovative technique used in the fine art created by John Michael Dickinson.
